Gosh, where to start? Living, stressing, and coping in survival-of-the-fittest Johannesburg, one would think that a little beach chair would not be a top priority on anybody’s agenda. Offered a few days of sun and sea by a dear friend who lives in stunningly beautiful Knysna, we walked the beach and searched for the best spots to collapse, read the Sunday papers, admire the views (human and scenic!) and wiggle the toesies in the sand.
Yay! Found a perfect place.
So, the next day there I was in the parking area, loaded up like a pack horse for my morning at the beach. Staggering across the sand loaded up with a bag, towel, sunscreen lotion, a bottle of water, book, cell phone, munchies, and with my sun hat flopping across my sweating forehead, I finally reached my beach spot, dumped everything on the beach and proceeded to dig a hole in the sand, like a Labrador, to make a backrest I could lean on to recover my breath (and my temper!) read my book and enjoy the sunshine.
Whew! It was right there and then that I decided there had to be an easier way to get one’s “just in case” beach stuff to the beach and do a better job of keeping me upright whilst I snoozed behind my sunglasses.
